Ex-home builder seeks Mesa mayoral seat

Scott Smith, a local home builder and small businessman is running for Mayor. It looks like it might be a crowded field however. Here are who the Republic thinks will be in the Race:

Pat Gilbert - Announced
Scott Smith - Announced
Tom Freestone - Exploratory
Claudia Walters - Exploratory
Rex Griswald - Exploratory

So you have the liberal vs two establishment candidates and two outsiders. Plus, you have Tom Freestone, who has boatloads of experience and seems to know everyone in town. This should be interesting.

Well, its been almost a year since the voters roundly rejected the property tax. I think the vote really showed that there is a lot of work to be done in Mesa.

A year later, I don't think much has changed. That why I think its interesting that its about that time for campaign season to heat up once again. I have decided to do my best to keep up with the issues in Mesa as they happen.
